Town History & Heritage
Situated along the Menominee River in Dickinson County, Kingsford was established in the 1920s when Henry Ford built a major manufacturing facility here to process timber for Model T automobiles. The extraction of scrap wood by-products famously led to the birth of Kingsford Charcoal.
